Roe deer hunting in Hungary

Roe deer hunting in Hungary. Roe buck hunting in Hungary. Roe buck shooting in Hungary.

The Hungarian roe deer population - which is recognised by hunters all over the world - is a result of the excellent conditions and resources of its habitat in Hungary, combined with decades of careful game management.

Our hunting grounds are located in three regions of Hungary, each of them with different local features and conditions.

1. North-East, East-Hungary:

Our hunting grounds in this region are located some 260-300 km from Budapest. One of the strongest local roe deer populations thrive in this region, and the number and quality of roe bucks shot here has been steadily increasing and improving in recent years.

The region - a predominantly plain landscape - offers a variety of different habitats. In addition to areas of agricultural production there is a high proportion of woodlands, grazing fields, meadows and flood plains, offering opportunities for hunting from motor vehicles, stalking or sitting up on high seats.

The average trophy weight falls between 350 and 450 grams but trophies weighing between 500 and 600 grams are not exceptional either.

2. South-Hungary:

Our hunting grounds in Csongrád and Békés counties in the Hungarian Great Plain are located some 140-190 km south of Budapest.
The only effective form of hunting in these flat areas is riding on vehicles, with an average shooting distance of 150-200 metres, due to the characteristics of coverage.

The average trophy weight in this region falls between 300 and 400 grams, but each year our customers also take bucks with trophies weighing more than 500 grams.

3. The region of Hatvan and Gyöngyös:

These hunting grounds are located 60-100 km east of Budapest in Heves and Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok county. The woodlands in the hilly and plain micro-regions in these counties enable our guests to combine hunting from high seats, with stalking and with hunting from vehicles. Hunting of roe deer here can be combined with hunting for wild boar as well for individual hunters, in nearby state owned hunting grounds. Another great advantage of the region is its short distance from Budapest.

The average trophy weighs between 300 and 400 grams, with a considerable percentage weighing up to 450-500 grams.

Hunting here may also be combined with shooting wild boar from high seats along with hunting of ducks in the rutting season.

Our customers usually take some 12-25 roe bucks in the spring season, 8-15 bucks in the rutting season in the summer, in a 3-4 day hunting programme, depending on their demand.

Recommended periods:

15 April - 20 May. Rutting season, usually between 20 July and 15 August.

International scoring:
105,00 - 114,99 C.I.C. Bronze
115,00 - 129,99 C.I.C. Silver
